Crikey’s Janine Perrett, Bernard Keane, Jason Murphy, and Peter Fray unpacked Budget 2020.
The fab four tuned out the spin while discussing if the budget will be giving Aussies the best bang-for-their-buck. They juggled a wide range of questions from our Crikey readers on aged care, child care, tax cuts, pensioners, climate change and much more.
“The other no-brainer stimulus measure, funding for social housing, is also missing entirely. There is $2 billion for small-scale capital works and local infrastructure that — provided it doesn’t fall victim to the Morrison syndrome of being announced but never spent — should be spent quickly on roads across the country. That won’t provide much help for the residential construction sector.” Bernard Keane
There were also the highlight cameos from Bernard’s cats!
For further reading we have some great articles from Bernard – A mutant of a budget offers mixed answers to the vital questions and Jason – Frydenberg getting awfully close to that trillion-dollar mark.
Enjoy the highlights and replay.
