An interesting juxtaposition on this morning’s Radio National edition of AM. First the tail of this report on climate catastrophe:

GREG BOURNE: If we end up with runaway climate change, we could be heading towards 5 to 6 degree temperature rise by the end of the century. That is devastating for the economy, it is devastating for agriculture. It is devastating for our iconic landscapes, our biodiversity. It is truly frightening, but we can win — but we have to get after it. We have to move faster and we have to create an industrial and agricultural revolution, the like of which we have never seen.
Which dovetailed with the news that:
TONY EASTLEY: Malcolm Turnbull’s party room has given him the green light to negotiate on Kevin Rudd’s emissions trading scheme. The marathon meeting in Canberra lasted more than four hours. While Mr Turnbull has cleared the first hurdle, the Coalition remains deeply divided, with a number of MPs and senators still declaring they will vote against Kevin Rudd’s scheme, no matter what changes are made.
