This week a Crikey journalist ran afoul of big tech.

It’s been a long week for Crikey associate editor Cam Wilson, who was suspended from Twitter last Sunday for posting about an Australian company. Why? It was deemed he’d breached the platform’s privacy rules… even though the information he shared is publicly available. Luckily for him the suspension has now been lifted, but it’s a sign of just how much power Twitter has — and how its privacy settings can be easily exploited.

Meanwhile politics editor Bernard Keane spent the week calling out the myth that the Liberal Party hate’s taxes (when in reality Scott Morrison is Australia’s biggest taxing prime minister since John Howard). Keane also shook his head at the gross hypocrisy that is the Coalition calling for “more transparency” over the financial donors backing independent candidates running in Liberal-held seats. The Morrison government lecturing about transparency? Give us a break!

You can find all those stories, and plenty more from the Crikey team, below.

Have a great weekend,

Georgia Wilkins
