The events of this week have, in sickening and exhausting detail, laid bare just what a toxic place Australia’s Parliament has become.

A lot of our focus has been on Prime Minister Scott Morrison, the head of the fetid government fish. Bernard Keane looked at the catastrophic new “normal” in politics, Kishor Napier-Raman explored some of the lingering questions facing Morrison, and Amber Schultz tried to find out just where the PM is learning about sexual violence.

As ever, Crikey looked this week at the bigger picture, with Georgia Wilkins delving into what the government’s fondness for secret trials against whistleblowers costs us, and Michael Bradley reminding us that Christian Porter’s defamation case is no substitute for an inquiry.

Have a great weekend,
